Random Layout - CSI #60

This is a shot of a latte taken from Jones the Grocer at Dempsey Hill. We go there mainly for breakfast on Sunday before heading out to the Botanic Gardens for the kids to run. Kids love their fruit salad while we just settle for simple toasts and latte. Just a simple boost on a Sunday morning. So this layout I had made is for CSI case #60. I love this palette especially because of the red and chocolate color! I had used all 5 colors in the palette. The evidences would be hearts, layers (of stamps and colors and texture paste), something that drips, circles and  solid white background. Testimony taken from this link prompt #6 a favorite restaurant and #31 a photograph - I have included the name of the restaurant as the title and how the photograph of the latte inspired me to use the never-utilised before sentiment stamp from TT.

Noteables : Prima Stencil; Dylusions Lemon Zest/Melted Chocolate/Postboxed, Mister Hueys' Overdue/Dark Calico, October Afternoon Lemon Drop; Stamps : Stamper Anonymous stamp, Technique Tuesday Keep Calm, Hero Arts Cling Stamps-Newspaper Eiffel Tower, Unknown brand texture background stamps; Distress Inks Tea Dye/Pumice Stone, Hero Arts Mid Tones Cup O' Joe, Versafine Onyx Black; October Afternoon Mini Market from Farm Girl collection; Texture Paste, American crafts jute, MT washi tapes, inspired by Let's Scrap card sketch 4-20-11

p/s : #2 cringed at my layout and complained that the mudwok texture paste on the layout is DIRTY, gave me a loud "EEEEEEEE!" and ran away. #1 said that this piece is awesome. So what do you think?

Random Layout - The Color Room #144

This layout is based on The Color Room's challenge #144, and also to link up Scrap for Help Challenge - PLASTIC. Here's my take with photos of #1 creating the scene of (what apparently supposed to be T-Rex) running away from 'green' erupting volcano. The foam cut out of the dinosaur is inspired by a book, which he likes to read. It sure was fun creating that piece of art. I had used bubble wrap for stamping in this layout.

Let's Scrap Feathers and blings challenge

I decided to work on this challenge hosted by Eniko on Let's Scrap - Feather and Blings. I have no feathers emblishment nor paper with feathers imprinted. So I made these washi tape feathers which I chanced upon from Riikka's blog. I have no wire, so I used black cardstock :). I had done some misting then some stamping. I had also blended some  Walnut stain to make the layout looking like a old advert, focusing on the photographic studio. I don't mean to make this look like creepy kind of layout, just that I thought the spiders would make it more fun. This photo was taken during our visit to Brisbane with my cousin's kids. Not easy but this is the better photo of the lot.

Random Layout - CSI #59

It took me a few nights to work on this layout - inky overload. I love this photo a lot and had saved this until I get some inspiration. Glad that this week's palette caught my eye (I AM kind of hooked playing at CSI). This photo which was taken at Samford, Brisbane with kid #2, during Wendy's wedding in March2011. It was beautiful weather and indeed a very beautiful ceremony. #2 was sick during our trip but didn't look that grouchy in that photo because he had something to munch on during the ceremony :) O boy.. though the flowers and cages are not that intricate this is the 1st time I did so much fussy cutting , but to me it was tough! But I'm really happy with the layout! I just have to the close up photos this layout because I totally love the outcome. I love that petal on my head, looks like I'm wearing a big flower hat! :)
I had used all the colors in the palette. Evidence frames, distressing, bird, cage, numbers, branch, create something like a shelf for elements to sit on (the branch), texture paste and swirl. My testimony of an extended definition of love - My world is not upside down. Smile

Random Layout - CSI #58

Here's my take on CSI #58. I have photos from our family gathering at En, at central with our extended family. It is a nice Japanese restaurant which serves awesome food. Here are some of the shots which I managed to captured. I have used all 5colors required for the layout. Evidence I have these : string (Jute basically ties back to the rope in the scene from the photo in case58), clouds (linking to my 2word journaling in testimony), transportation accent (the car symbolised how we got there). Testimony Look at your picture and let your thoughts wander and just write about what comes to mind. Just two words - cloud 9

This week at 365cards, for Valentine's Day, let's see a "love" theme with lots of overlapping elements - smother the card with embellies and other decorations. Random Layout - CSI #57

Here is my take on CSI #57 this week. This was a tough palette as there are 2 shades of pink required. I figured I work with a stencil and mists, and chosed to spritz more teal first. The mix of Dylusions and TA made it a little off towards fuschia... yikes! Then I applied some texture paste to add some interest. I stamp some botanical flowers stamps, a few here and there and settle with some journaling. The title is inked with Staz-on Cotton white before applying crackle paint. When it is dried, I further inked with Versacolor  and I do love that crackle showing up on the font. This week the evidences which I have is -  hearts, flowers, birds, solid background, 10 layers, fabric brads, weave or intertwine something (inspired by the vines). The testimony that I had chosen is document a love story (interpret as you wish).

Random Art Journal - Moments Recorded Simply Simple

This photo which was cropped from one of the shots which I used for this layout. I'm so glad I didn't chuck it away! Well, I would call this leftover page which turned out as an art journal page. This is page is on my existing thrift shop sketch book from Daiso, which has been abandoned after I lay the scrap paper and gesso  for half a year or so. So sometime end of last year, I thought I could make use of it for leftover mists/inking work. I starts off this page with no intention of taking part in Moments Recorded Challenge, in fact the 2nd coat of this page with mists was already there when I did this. The condition of Moments Recorded to keep the creation flat. What I did was to add lacy stamp from Jenni Bowlin and  wood grain stamp Hero Arts; all rubons from October Afternoon mambo jumbo of fall/Christmas and a sticker from Thrift Shop.  Doodled a little here and there, TADA! Here's my creation for Moments Recorded Simply Simple.

Let's Scrap 2-6-13

Hello Wednesday! It's Let's Scrap sketch this week and I admit do have trouble with this sketch at first. And for the 1st time I'm using die cut from Websters' Pages. I didn't feel quite right not having some ink or using stencil so I decided to add both to the layout. And I'm pretty happy with the outcome! Do join us and play along. Remember to tag your creation as 2-6-13

Random Layout - CSI #56

I'm color challenged, seriously. Even with a color palette, I still do feel color challenged. So I decided to use the CSI coordinates but I had to add a little of different colors here and there to make a little of my own - Itchy hands! I have here mix media background - textured paste/acrylic and gesso. Then I added some random stamping here and there and made it inky at the edges.  And when I'm finally done, I love it! For the evidences, I have all of them : clouds, umbrella accents, strings, something that dangles or hangs, wet medium, something translucent (not transparent), teacup accent, make a little packet that holds little bits of something , doodle dashed lines, plain cardstock background. As for testimony I have these :  Creative writing prompt #21 - If you were a famous chef, what would you cook? The answer which Shawn would given is what I had  written down : If I was a famous chef, I would not cook. I would wash, chop and dice my favorite fruits and must-have berries, blob some yoghurt and that would make me grin like that!
