Thrusday's Up! - Blending

Hello Thrusday! The theme this week at 365cards is Blending - You may use inks, markers, pencils, paint, or some other method to add color to your card and blend colors in some fashion.  You can use any theme you wish. Here's mine. I worked with the Tattered Angels first for the background but realised they are too watery! So I did a second layer blending with distress inks, blending Ice Spruce and Barn Door over the stencil again. Here's my card for this week. Do join us at 365cards and have fun!

Noteables : Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist Astrid / Cotton Candy, Tim Holtz Distress Inks Iced Spruce/Barn Door, Ink blending tool, Staz on Jet Black, A Million and One by Ali Edwards, Blazer Design Mini Swirly Garden, Let's Scrap card sketch 2-7-12

Let's Scrap DT Tutorial

This is my first tutorial for design team work at Let's Scrap. I had made this 'layering' tutorial. When I first started scrapbooking, I have the impression that layering has to be piles and piles of paper, flowers and embellishments. Then I learn that layering in another meaning could be work of piles of inking/stamping etc, so it doesn't necessarily need to have that 3d physical effect.

Anyway for this, here are the layers that I have in my layout

1. Washi tapes - for me as a grid and also to matting the photo
2. Bubble masks misted with Dylusions. flipped it over not to waste the ink, and use it at the bottom corner, creating a negative print
3. Graph mask with Dylusions - to add another interest point to the layout. I misted on the top right and on the bottom right (no negative mask for this). I also splattered the inks around the pages.
4. Stamping with a kitchen roll with distress ink- just to add some fun to it *** think repurpose ***
5. Jute - to add the 3d effect to the layer. I twisted the bunch of jute twice and tied a knot somewhere. I like the pop up effect :)

I used 3D glue dots since the bunch of jute has already bulk up the page. I tucked the knot somewhere underneath the photo. So ta da... a simple, inky, splatter layout.

Noteables : Bazzil White smooth 12x12, American Craft jute, Dylusions Lemon Zest/Cut Grass/Post Boxed/London Blue, Distress ink Barn Door, Studio Calico Bubble/Graph masks, Classiky graffiti washi tapes, Bo Bunny Ad Lib alpha stickers, October Afternoon Very Merry Word Sticker

Photo was taken during a Christmas party in 2010, Kid was looking at his presents :)

Thrusday's Up! - Rough and Smooth

Hello Thrusday! Tim Holtz with some October Afternoon, I guess they don't clash on this card. Here's my take for 365cards this week. My challenge for this week is to create a card to depict Rough and Smooth. My take evolves around the quote - the cute clouds representing rough weather (or situations) while the leaves and all are prancing around. What's your take on this theme. Let's Scrap 12-12-12

Let's Scrap 12-12-12

Let's Scrap 12-12-12 tagsHere's my take on the sketch from Let's Scrap this week. These photos were taken during #1's full dress rehearsal for their year-end concert in 2010, when he was in 3 years old, in Nursery 1.  He obviously looks a little stunned going through the makeup session.

Some work on this piece, some stamping, inking of the chipboard alphas and have some glossy accent on - close up it looks uneven because of the reflections from the window. I'm glad how the textures work for this layout.

Noteables : DCWV textured cardstock, scraps from Basic Grey Obscure/Indie Bloom/Cosmo Cricket,  Amy T Draft stamps, Versafine Satin Red, Jenni Bowlin Fountain Pen, Glossy Accent, Maya Road chipboard alphas, Bakers Twine, May Arts Jute, EK success tag punch buttons from stash, Joy stamp from My Mind's Eye, Prima script stamp, Marks washi tape, MT seal washi tape, Tim Holtz tiny attacher

Let's Scrap 5-12-12

Today is #1 birthday. He turns 5 today. Love his grins and all that chatters that he has brought to our lives. Coming back to DT work, you could see his face (predominantly) in this piece of inky stamping work is for Let's Scrap DT call. And yes I got to be DT for Let's Scrap again for 2nd term, which starts on 1Dec2012, alongside with a lot of other talented scrappers. Wohoooo! For this layout I played with LOTS of inks, stamps and mists. So I would not name each product but just the brand names since I had tidied and kept most of them. :) The bunch of photos were from last year's trip to Brisbane for Wendy's wedding.

Noteables : Dylusions inks and The Crafters Workshop stencils, Stamps from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous/Swiss Girl design/ Maya Road/Studio Calico;  Classiky washi tapes, Tim Holtz Grunge paper and distress inks

Weekend crafts

I'm pretty happy with what was done over the weekend with these crafts. Here's to share :
Inspired by
1. I made some tags inspired by Vicki on Scrapbook and Cards Today. Just armed with a pair of scissors and glue stick I did this and cleared the mini pieces of my stash in 1.5hrs.

2. Labels for #1 birthday party and also made from scraps, punched 1.75" circles, stamped 3 stamps and kids helped to stick them with washi tapes onto the birthday goodie bags.

3. This is Muji kraft wrapping paper and some kiddy stamps which I got locally. Both the boys helped me out 90% of the drawing block size paper was covered and I filled in the blanks after they are done. And yup that's 20minutes of no-TV time and the boys had fun!
