Thrusday's Up - Try A New Technique

Try a New Technique

As it says, try a new technique. Earlier this week, for the 1st time,
1. I made a pompom with twine with a fork
2. rolled felt flower
3. Another new technique I used in my card is distress glue technique from Split Coast Stampers. Simply using clear glue to create unique background, coupled with some distress ink.
4. I also made a pocket to put the little tag in. The pocket is actually held by some washi tapes.The butterfly silhouette is paper scrap which I saved from previous project and for some color to the butterfly I added washi tape. So try a new technique, what's yours?

Closeup shot - I embrace imprefection :)
There we have stripes, grids, polkas. Pretty busy card, huh?

Supplies :
* All patterned papers from Studio Calico

* Washi tape from Colte & Marks Lotta Jansdotter design
* Butterflies punches from Martha Stewart (Classic Butterfly 3 In 1 & Monarch Butterfly Double punch)
* Pink Sorbet twine from The Twinery
* Thank you stamp - Technique Tuesday Clear Stamps Loving Words
* Tim Holtz Distress inks Broken China / Sugar Spun
* Ribbon from Daiso

My 1st Pompom & Freestyle cut felt flower

I'm not a flower power kind of person and neither am I a very pink person. Just to challenge myself some new techniques this week :
1. Choose a pink twine to make a pompom. And I used Pink Sorbet from The Twinery. I probably didn't do enough rounds to make it really fluffy. So it does looked kind of butchered.

2. I googled some felt flowers tutorials and chanced upon a rolled fabric tutorial from My Blonde Ambitions. I used a square felt piece from thrift shop and freestyle cut with no measurement ... whopped out my Beacon glue and started to glue the felt (and my fingers along the way). Here is the final product of the night. I guess pros could have taken less than 10min to do this whole pompom + flower thing. I took more than 20mins to do so.

ATC April 2012 - sneak peek

I gathered some supplies and jumped into ATC for April hosted by Carol. Deadline is 25April so if I don't do today, I doubt I would have any energy left for ATC over the weekdays. Theme for April is distress techniques. I took out some distress inks and some distress stamps. I was desperately looking for my blending tool tonight but couldn't find it. Luckily I had some cosmetic sponge which I would dab and blend. Here's sneak peek to some of the stuff that were used tonight. Final reveal would be posted early May

The Next Mini(s)

I went into paper-selection-frenzy. I took 1/2hr to select these 12x12 papers, with no theme in mind. I think I would probably turn them into boy-ish mini(s) for kiddies... Stay tuned!

Thrusday's Up! Just a Touch

Just a Touch

I had the privilege to select  one of the images from this week's 365cards' sponsor Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps And More. My challenge is just to add a touch of color to it i.e. I'm not supposed to color in the whole image, and just try to use something to make it really stand out - a bright color or some glitter maybe... so I chose a gold gel pen from Uniball. So same goes for you, use minimal coloring to your main iamge.. just add little touch to it to perk it up! Have fun!

Frankly speaking, the number of times I worked with digi is less than 10times in my lifetime. This should pull off nicely as a card to invite someone to a 60s' themed party or a date may be :)

Supplies:
* Bicycle digi from Robyns Fetish
* Polka PP from Authentique Blissful
* Heart shape PP from My Mind's Eye 6x6 Designer Paper Pad Out of the Blue
* Maya Road Tickets transparency
* Alpha stickers from Bo Bunny Ad Lib collection
* Martha Stewart butterfly punch
* Mini heart shape punch from Daiso
* Twines from Divine twine
